Theta Omega chapter is the 8th graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. charted in 1922.  We have a vast and rich history dating back almost 100 years.  With approximately 400 members of diverse ages, we are fortunate to have several members who are 75 year Diamond members and are still active in the chapter. We mentor members of our undergraduate chapter, Beta, and foster relationships with these college women to embrace them as they transfer to our chapter. Through our Membership and Sisterly Relations Committees, we hold many activities to strengthen our sisterhood and have fun, including book clubs, pajama parties, shopping excursions, and lunch circles.   With members in various careers, we have a built-in network for our members which can assist them in their personal career pursuits.

With several chapters in the Chicagoland area, Theta Omega works with area chapters to perform joint programming as well as joint sisterly activities through the Chicagoland Basilei Council which has been in existence for twenty years.

We serve Woodlawn and neighboring communities through our AKArama Foundation programs focused on economic empowerment, health and wellness, exposure to and cultivation of the arts, college readiness, college scholarships, HBCU awareness and mentoring for middle school girls.  In addition, we support global initiatives and our brothers and sisters of the African diaspora across the world.

Theta Omega chapter meets each 2nd Friday of the month (except July and August).  Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., looking to join a phenomenal chapter need look no more.  Contact our Membership Chairman at [email protected] for additional information.

Sisterly Relations

Theta Omega Chapter cultivates sisterhood through activities sponsored by the Sisterly Relations and Membership Committees.  We enjoy our sisterhood by spending time together in community service and sisterly activities including line dancing, strolling, and celebrating AKAversary milestones.
